The number of Indonesian migrant workers is growing every year. In 2007 approximately 700,000 of Indonesian is estimated in working abroad. As the number of migrant workers grows, the remittance has also increased and for Indonesia it is now the second highest foreign exchange earner after oil, amounted to over $6 billion in 2008.
Based on a study conducted by Financial and Private Sector Development (FSD) unit in The World Bank, migrant workers and migrant workers family are one of communities in Indonesia who have limited access to financial services and lack of information of financial services and products including information for sending and recieving remmittances from overseas, and saving their money.
